residential
treatment center
Residential
treatment center has help available in many forms for various problems.
A residential treatment center may be focused towards adults or
adolescent clients. An adolescent residential treatment center will
take teenagers up to age 18 with programs tailored to teenagers
specific needs. Not every residential treatment center offers detox
and pricing for services may vary widely. Many residential treatment
centers accept insurance as payment in part or full. This depends
on the particular insurance plan; an intake counselor can check
coverage. Generally speaking, a low or no cost residential treatment
center will attract indigent clients while a residential treatment
center that accepts private pay or insurance will not. Many residential
treatment centers will not accept clients convicted of a violent
crime, itĒs best to call ahead and ask.
A residential treatment center that does not offer detox may not
be appropriate for all clients. Those clients that have problems
with alcohol, prescription medications, or opioid drugs such as
heroin may need to seek treatment at a residential treatment center
that offers drug detox with medication. These facilities have doctors
on staff that will administer medications for safety and comfort.
Clients that have received DUI should attend a residential treatment
center that offers court liaison service to work with attorneys
and court officials to provide documentation of residential drug
treatment. Often times sentences may be reduced when residential
drug treatment is completed.
Although most residential treatment centers offer stays of varying
lengths, experts agree that staying in a residential treatment center
for at least 28 days is more effective than shorter stays. Patients
that go to detox only have a low likelihood of long-term recovery.
The reason for this is that detox simply removes substances from
the body and does not address underlying issues that led to drug
abuse in the first place It is necessary to address these issues
and make changes in behavior and surroundings for long term recovery
to take place It is also said that family participation increases
the likelihood of success. Some residential treatment centers treat
other problems such as gambling, eating disorders, or sexual issues.
Many residential treatment centers take on dual diagnosis patients;
these are persons who have a diagnosis of mental illness in addition
to chemical dependency issues. |
